Around 11kg gold has been recovered from two passengers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Tuesday.
Customs Intelligence department officials arrested the duo named Shah Alam and Ibrahim for carrying the gold illegally, the department's director general Moinul Haq Khan told the Dhaka Tribune.
Moinul said intelligence personnel searched Shah Alam, who came from Dubai, on suspicion while he was passing the green channel and seized 10kg gold form his possession.
In another drive, a team of the department arrested another passenger named Ibrahim came from Singapore along with 932-gram of gold at the time of crossing in green channel of the airport.
Meanwhile on the previous night, Armed Police Battalion (APBN) arrested four people with few tolas of gold, who came from Malaysia, for carrying those without declaration.
They arrestees were identified as Omar Faruq, Imran Hossain, Badsha Mia, and Fazlur Rahman.
