An activist of the Jubo Dal, the youth affiliate of BNP, has been called out from his home and shot dead in Lakshmipur Sadar upazila.
The deceased has been identified as Ripon, 22, son of Helal Uddin from Lakshmipur Sadar.
Family sources alleged the local gang of a terrorist Shahjahan called out Ripon from his home and shot in Karaitola area around 11pm on Thursday.
Locals rescued him screaming for help, his mother Amena Begum said. Ripon died around 2am on the way to a hospital in Noakhali.
Police recovered the body from Karaitola area around 10am on Friday, Lakshmipur Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Shahjahan said.
Lakshmipur police acting Superintendent Sheikh Shariful Islam said Ripon was shot dead. An affiliate, Rashed, was being questioned in custody in this regard.
Mandari union Jubo Dal President Ismail Hossain confirmed about Ripon's activism with the party.
The body has been sent to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital morgue.
