A youth died yesterday after being hit by a cricket bat centring a feud over a cricket match in the capital’s Kamrangirchar.
Deceased was identified as Mohammad Rajib Hossain, 20, a welder by profession and a resident of Hasananagar area of Kamrangirchar.
The victim’s father Abul Hossain said Razib went out of the home at around 4:30pm to play cricket in a nearby field. Later, he was critically injured when a fellow player Jashim struck him hard on the back with a cricket bat when the two locked into a heated debate over a decision of the match.
“We took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on duty doctors declared him dead around 6:50pm,” he added.
