The court was conducted the combined drive with DGDA, RAB-HQ along with RAB-10 personnel at Midfort Hospital area of Kotowali in the city.
The special drive started around 11am and continued till around 4:30pm on Monday. The value of seized medicines is Tk4 crore, Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) said.
The court convicted 10 outlets in three different market – 212 Midfort medicine market, Taz Medicine Market and Amir Medicine Market – were fined Tk13 lacs for storing unregistered drugs, physician samples and dispensing drugs without any supervision of pharmacist.
Meanwhile, two owner were sent to jail for two years for storing government medicine and cattle fattening medicines of two different medicine shops at Midfort Market.
The two owners are Chondon Das, 45, of Alpana Medical shop and Fazlul Haq, 40, owner of Titas Medical shop.
RAB executive magistrate Sartwoer Alam told the Dhaka Tribune that the seized artificial cattle fattening medicine from the two pharmacy worth about Tk1 crore.
They found various types of injection and antibiotics those were made free for the people were found there. These medicines worth Tk3 crore, the official informed.
DADG Superintendent Kibria said in presence of the executive magistrate, the seized medicines were destroyed at the dumping station of Matuail.
ASP Rezaul Rahman of RAB-10 and his team were present to control any unexpected situation during the drive.
