The owner of a nursing home was hacked to death by his sacked manager at Phulbarigate under Khanjahan Ali Police Station in the city yesterday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Dr Gouranga Chandra Das, 47, the owner of ‘Moitri Nursing Home’ and son of late Dinbandhu Das of Goshgati village in Dighalia upazila of the district, reports UNB.
While serving as the manager of the clinic, Russell developed an illicit relation with nurse Sujata. When Dr Gouranga came to know about the matter, he dismissed both of them from the job a month ago.
Angered by the termination, Russell swooped on the nursing home owner at his chamber on the ground floor at about 3pm and chopped him with a machete, leaving him dead on the spot.
He also attacked nurses as they tried to resist him.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Khulna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Khanjahan Ali police station, said they have launched a drive to arrest the killer.
