Former chief whip of the national parliament ASM Firoz has been arrested.
The police arrested the Awami League leader from his Banani residence Friday night, the media and public relations wing of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said.
The DMP, however, did not mention the reason behind his arrest.
ASM Firoz, an MP from Patuakhali-2 constituency, was the chief whip of the 10th parliament.
Feroz was elected Awami League lawmaker for Patuakhali-2 in 1991, 1996, 2008, 2014, 2018 and 2024.
