A man and his daughter were killed at Companiganj upazila in Sylhet on Tuesday over family feud.
The deceased were Abdus Salam, 50, and his daughter Ruli Begum, 18, of Putermara village.
According to local sources, Salam, his wife Rushna Begum and their daughter Ruli went to Companiganj on Monday night.
After finishing the work, they were returning home by a boat. At one stage, some miscreants attacked them from another boat on the way. They also threw Salam and Runi into the water, leaving them dead on the spot.
The miscreants also beat up Rushna leaving her unconscious. Meanwhile, she got back her sense and returned village rowing the boat. She informed the incident to the villagers. The villagers went to Companiganj police station and asked the law enforcers to recover the bodies.
A team of police led by OC Bayes recovered the bodies and sent those to Osmani Medical College and Hospital.
Bayes said Salam and Runi were killed by the men of Abdun Noor, the brother of Salam, as they had a long-standing conflict over a piece of land.
A case was filed in this connection.
