A 34-year-old Bangladeshi has been charged with causing grievous hurt to a man in Singapore.
Rana Sohel was charged in a Singaporean court on Tuesday, reports the Straits Times.
According to the report, Rana along with three other Bangladeshis allegedly assaulted 42-year-old Lim Leong Tat at a pavement along Geylang Road on Sunday.
The accused allegedly punched Lim in the face and slammed his head onto the pavement which resuled in his death.
Later, police arrested Rana over the matter on Sunday while another Bangladeshi was arrested on Monday. The other two alleged accomplices are still on the run.
Eyewitnesses said an argument broke out between two groups of men at a 24-hour coffee shop in Geylang and the man who was trying to resolve the dispute was found dead in the vicinity, Chinese evening daily Lianhe Wanbao reported.
Rana, who is unrepresented, has been placed on remand at Central Police Division.
The court will resumed hearing the case on July 18. If convicted, Rana can be jailed for up to 10 years and fined or caned.
