A woman was stabbed reportedly by a teenage gang over previous animosity in Narayanganj's Fatullah, said police.

However, the girl filed a General Diary at Fatullah Model police station on Monday alleging that the she was stabbed when she protested an attempt to rape her younger sister.

Fatullah Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aslam Hossain confirmed that the woman, after being stabbed at the Shihachar area of Fatullah on Sunday, received treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

"The attackers used to take drugs in the house owned by the victim's family. Recently a feud broke out between them, amid which the attack took  place," OC Aslam said.

The assault victim's family alleged two members of a local teenage gang had been harassing a young girl in their house for long. The family reported the incidents to the aggressor's parents to no avail.

Describing the stabbing incident, the victim said: "Around 9:30pm on Sunday 10-15 teenage boys came to our home when I had just returned from work from the garments factory. One of the boys hugged my sister and pinned her to the bed.

"After I screamed and fought to free her from his grasp, the boys shoved me and began dragging my sister toward the door. Once again, I tried to save her and that is when they stabbed me and left the spot.”

The woman's mother said: "We are poor and the gang has political support. Locals know very well how dangerous they are, so no one has the courage to protest their actions. We have to move out if justice is not ensured.

"After we had filed the general diary at the police station, our tin-shed house, windows and door were vandalized. They threatened to kill us if we do not withdraw the complaint.”
