Update : 25 Mar 2017, 02:33 AM
International terrorist group Islamic State has claimed responsibility for Friday evening's bomb blast at a police outpost near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.A man who was carrying several bombs, died in an explosion right before he was about to enter the booths of an assistant commissioner of police and traffic inspector, an eye witness said. The blast shattered the glass of the booths. SITE Intel Group, which tracks online activities of different extremist groups, posted on their Twitter account at 10:30pm Friday that Islamic State had claimed the attack. This was the 28th militant incident in Bangladesh, for which IS claimed responsibility. This was the third attack claimed by IS in Bangladesh since the Holey Artisan massacre in early July last year. IS also claimed the March 17 attack at a Rapid Action Battalion camp in Ashkona, Dhaka. After the Holey Artisan attack in July 1 last year, the next act of terror IS claimed was on August 23, in which a Hindu devotee was slashed with sharp weapons in Narsingdi. The terrorist group released a video on March 14, of a Bangladeshi suicide bomber who blew himself up in Tikrit, Iraq. The bomber had urged his countrymen to carry out lone-wolf attacks in the video. Both the Ashkona and Dhaka airport attacks were carried out by single attackers.
