Parents of the New JMB couple killed during “Assault 16” operation in Sitakunda area on Thursday have refused to take the bodies for burial.
The couple and their six-month-old child who died the same day were buried by Anjuman Mofidul Islam at Baishmohalla graveyard of Chaitanno Lane in the port city Monday afternoon.
Kamal Hossain and his wife Zubaira Yasmin, both from Baishari of Bandarban, and their child died in the explosion.
“The bodies were handed over to Anjuman Mofidul Islam as untraced and were buried after their namaj-e-janaza,” Md Selim Naser, assistant director of Chittagong Anjuman Mofidul Islam, told the Dhaka Tribune.

Kamal’s father Mojaffar Ahmed, Zubira’s father Nurul Alam and her brother Ziabul Haque identified the bodies at Chittagong Medical College morgue and refused to take the bodies for burial.
“We are very ashamed for the disgraceful activities of Zubaira and her husband,” Ziabul told reporters Monday.
Earlier, parents of most of the New JMB militants killed during raids since the Gulshan attack had refused to take the bodies.
Meanwhile, CMP’s Bomb Disposal Unit completed their work at “Chhayaneer” militant hideout in Premtala area in Sitakunda where four New JMB members including Kamal and Zubaira were killed during a raid by SWAT on Thursday morning.

Officials said that they had recovered 39 bombs from the flat and defused them. Some of those were very powerful. Apart from the bombs, 11 jell explosives and a grenade were also found in a room.
Law enforcers arrested New JMB members Jashim and Arjina from a house in Namarbazar area, close to Premtala, a day before. Jashim is Kamal’s cousin.
Meanwhile, SWAT yesterday searched two four-storey buildings in the city’s Akbarshah area suspecting them to militant hideouts. But they did not find anything.
CMP Deputy Commissioner (west) Faruq Ul Haque said that the drive had been conducted as part of the countrywide crackdown against militants.
According to sources, Jashim and Arjina gave the police some information about their associates during interrogation.

On Saturday, police raided Jamiyatul Ulum Al Islamia Madrasa, popularly known as Lalkhan Bazar Madrasa, in Chittagong for two hours but to no avail.
Hefazat-e-Islam leader Mufti Izharul Islam is the principal of the Qawmi madrasa, which had been unpopular for militant connection in the 90s, particularly with Harkat ul-Jihad al-Islami Bangladesh (HujiB) – a militant group banned in 2005.
In 2013, the Lalkhan Bazar Madrasa came under spotlight again when three students at a dormitory were killed in an explosion occurred while making grenades.
