A woman was hacked to death and another wounded as some miscreants attacked them at their house in the Jatrabari area of Dhaka on Sunday evening.
The victim was identified as Salma, 35, and the wounded as Rabeya, also 35. They were residing on the third floor of a five storey building in the Kutubkhali area of Jatrabari.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Jatrabari Police Station, Wazed Ali, said some miscreants stormed the house at around 6:30pm and attacked the two women with sharp weapons. They stabbed them indiscriminately leaving Salma dead on the spot and Rabeya grievously wounded.
The body was sent to Sir Salimullah Medical College for autopsy and Rabeya was admitted to Mitford Hospital, the OC said.
The reason behind the attack could not be known immediately, however, “an investigation is going on,” the OC added.
Meanwhile, a senior police officer wishing anonymity said the victims used to live together in the flat. "We're investigating whether any militant group is behind the attack."
