Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two fraudsters from Dhaka's Hazaribagh, who have been identifying themselves as senior Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) officials.
The elite force on Friday arrested Anisur Rahman alias Babul, 36, of Bou Bazar and Yasin Talukdar, 26, of Nabipur.
RAB 2 Company Commander Mohiuddin Faruque in a media statement on Saturday said: “The two have scammed about 500 government officials and extorted at least Tk40-45 lakh in the last five years, with threats of lodging corruption charges.”
RAB opened an inquiry after the ACC reported incidents of government officials being threatened by imposters posing as ACC officials.

RAB 2, tasked with the investigation, arrested Anisur and Yasin with 21 mobile phones and 26 unregistered SIM cards with fake registration and bKash accounts used to swindle government officials.
According to the statement of the two, RAB said they had been active since 2014 and the force will conduct further investigations to apprehend other gang members.
