Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a man for defaming the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Chief Election Commissioner and other ministers and senior officials of law enforcement agencies.
Shamul Ahmed Shimul, 28, was arrested on Tuesday around 2:30pm, from the district’s Fulsaind Bazar area in Gopalganj.
Earlier on Saturday, a man named Abul Kamal, 52, was also arrested for defaming Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and other ministers, in the Lichu Bagan area.
RAB-9 Additional Superintendent of Police (Media Officer) Md Moniruzzaman said he was arrested for spreading false information and publishing caricatures on the social media.
He has been handed over to the Gopalganj Police Station, to be tried under the Digital Security Act.
