Muggers snatch Tk1.6 crore from garments factory employees in Savar

Muggers have stolen Tk1.6 crore from the employees of a garment factory in Savar while the latter were transporting the money. Confirming the incident, RAB 4 Company Commander Maj Abdul Hakim said employees of Oboni Group were transporting Tk1.6 crore in a microbus to another factory of the group on Tuesday afternoon when the incident occurred. As the microbus reached the Nazimnagar area, the miscreants swooped on the vehicle and fired blank shots, snatching away the money the employees were carrying in the confusion, he added. Later, RAB and police officials visited the spot. However, none of the muggers were arrested in connection with the smash and grab as yet. When contacted, the factory authorities refused to comment on the matter.
