“The investigators have made progress into the Gulshan attack investigation after the death of Marjan and Saddam in the Mohammadpur raid,” he told journalists after a programme at Dhaka University Senate Bhaban on Saturday.
Shahidul Huq said: “We have all the information about Marjan and Saddam – how they became involved in militancy and what they did.”
“We have arrested most of the people involved in the Gulshan attack while some died in different raids. We have started more strategic drives to arrest the others,” he claimed.
The IGP suggested for a centre to deradicalise or rehabilitate detained militants, so that they cannot influence other prisoners in jail to join militancy.

The autopsy was conducted at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue on Saturday morning by Shohel Mahmud, head of Forensic Medicine department at DMC.

According to case statement, acting on a tip-off, a CTTC team was deployed at Beribadh area of Mohammadpur. They set up a check post in-front of Martyred Intellectual Memorial. Around 2:45am on Friday a motorbike with three passengers reached the check post.
Police signaled the motorcycle to stop, but they hurled bombs at the police personnel. In response, police opened fire on them and the three fell down from the motorbike. At that time, the third militant had fled the scene running.
