Update : 25 Apr 2026, 09:08 PM

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir said on Saturday that a positive change must be brought in the behavior, mindset, and sense of responsibility of all members of the police force as well as officials at every level of the administration.

He stressed that the highest level of caution must be exercised in the application of legal authority, saying that misuse of power is unacceptable under any circumstances. He also underscored the need to ensure transparency, accountability, and proper adherence to the law in all enforcement activities, including the use of digital technology and cyber tracking.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a special welfare meeting with police personnel of various ranks, including unit heads from the Khulna Division.

The IGP said police must always remember they are servants of the people and that ensuring public safety and welfare is their primary responsibility. He instructed that police stations be made more accessible, people-friendly, and trustworthy for the general public.

Calling for a united effort to combat drugs, terrorism, and other social issues, he urged both police and citizens to work together. He highlighted the importance of involving conscious and responsible members of society to build strong social resistance against crime for long-term positive results.

He further noted that immediate investigation, accurate reporting, and swift administrative action are crucial in the event of any accident, crime, or unexpected incident. He added that good governance can be ensured through accountability and regular supervision of field-level officers.
