CTTC detonates 15 bombs in Ashkona militant hideout

CTTC Additional Deputy Commissioner Sanowar Hossain said: “We will soon recover the body of the boy. So far, we have tried to defuse the bombs from two out of three rooms. There are at least five more bombs that we need to look into.”

ADC Sanowar further said the team found an explosive belt with 10 bombs attached. Seven more bombs were found scattered throughout the flat.

Senior ASP Abdus Salam of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) said: “We will start our investigation as soon as the CTTC declares the zone secure. We will retrieve the body of the boy before the daylight fades and make a primary mapping of the zone so that we can finish the job as soon as possible.”

The CTTC had detonated two more bombs on Saturday.

The CTTC unit conducted a raid at the house in Ashkona Purba Para area of Dhaka’s Dakkhinkhan which led to the capture of two female militants and the rescue of three children on Saturday.

Two others were killed in the raid – a woman killing herself by detonating a suicide vest and a teenage boy.
