In addition to the four youths reportedly missing together from Banani, now one more is reported to have gone missing from Cantonment and yet another one from Banani.

Four general diaries had been filed with Banani and Cantonment police stations in this regard by four families, as told by the police to the Dhaka Tribune.

Safayet Hossain, 24, Zayen Hossain Khan Pavel, 23, and Sobuj alias Sujon, 25, and Mehedi Hasan, 27, all residents of Banani, have been missing for the past five days. They were last seen in exiting a restaurant in Banani.

Meanwhile, Sayeed Anwar Khan, also a Banani resident, has been missing since Monday afternoon and Imran Farhat, a resident of Cantonment area, went missing on November 29.

The families of Zayen and Mehedi filed the GDs on December 4, where they mentioned that Safayet and Sujon had been missing.

Anwar’s family filed a GD in this regard on Tuesday, while Imran’s family filed it recently.

Zayen, an electrical and electronic engineering department student at North South University (NSU), left the university to help his father in his business in Old Dhaka.

Sujon’s uncle Mahbub Alam stated in the GD that Sujon was working at a private firm in Banani area, while Mehedi was looking for jobs.

Their families had not received any phone calls demanding ransom, according to their GDs.

Banani police Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Waheduzzaman said Safayet, Zayen and Mehedi were last seen at Northern Café beside Northern University campus at Banani.

He said they also checked whether other law enforcement agencies had detained the missing youths.

Even some of the militants killed in Kallyanpur, Ashulia, Gazipur and Narayanganj also remained missing since that time.

However, the police said they were yet to confirm whether the six youths had been involved in any sort of militant activities or not.
