A Dhaka court has placed retired lieutenant general Masud Uddin Chowdhury on a four-day remand in a murder case filed with Mirpur Model Police Station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Manjurul Islam passed the order on Thursday after a hearing.

Following the end of his third remand—totalling 11 days—the accused was produced before the court. Investigation officer and DB Police Sub-Inspector Kafil Uddin sought a fresh four-day remand for further interrogation.

According to the remand petition, the accused provided important information during questioning, which requires further verification to advance the investigation.

Defence lawyer Touhidul Islam Sajeeb opposed the remand plea and sought its rejection, while state prosecutor Shamsuddoha Suman argued in favour of the remand. After hearing both sides, the court granted the four-day remand.

According to the case statement, an attack took place on July 19, 2024, during an anti-discrimination student movement in the Falpatti area of Mirpur-10. The accused allegedly opened fire from different directions, leaving protester Delwar Hossain critically injured.

He was first taken to the National Heart Institute and later shifted to a private hospital in Shyamoli, where he died on July 21 while undergoing treatment.

The victim’s wife, Mosha Liza, filed the murder case with Mirpur Model Police Station on July 6, 2025.

Masud Uddin was arrested in the capital’s Baridhara area on March 23. He was initially placed on a five-day remand the following day, and has since been remanded multiple times in connection with different cases.
