A court has ordered that Rinku, arrested for obstructing two young women from smoking and physically harassing them at a tea shop in Lalmatia, Dhaka, be sent to jail.

Police presented him in court on Tuesday, seeking his detention under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

On the other hand, the defence lawyers applied for his bail. After hearing both sides, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masuma Rahman denied Rinku's bail and ordered that he be sent to jail.

On March 2, two young women were smoking in public at a tea shop in Lalmatia.

At that time, an elderly man objected to their smoking, leading to an argument. The situation quickly escalated, and a man named Rinku misbehaved with the women and attempted physical harassment.

Although the police arrived and brought the situation under control, a video of the incident went viral on social media, sparking widespread reactions.

Later, on Monday, police arrested Rinku. After his arrest, Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki confirmed the arrest in a Facebook post.
