Two associates of notorious money launderer Prashant Kumar Halder, also known as PK Halder surrendered before a Dhaka court in 15 cases on Tuesday.
The two associates are the then directors of International Leasing and Financial Services Basudev Banerjee and his wife Papia Banerjee.
They surrendered before Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad As-Shams Jaglul Hossain and sought bail in the cases.
Their bail hearing will be held after 12pm, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Assistant Director (Prosecution General) Aminul Islam confirmed the matter.
On May 23, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court ordered Basudev Banerjee and Papia Banerjee to surrender by June 4.
On May 9, the High Court granted six weeks of anticipatory bail to Basudev Banerjee and Papia Banerjee in 15 cases over illegal acquisition of wealth.
In 2021, the ACC filed a case against Basudev Banerjee and Papia Banerjee, along with PK Halder, accusing them of embezzlement.
