Update : 20 May 2024, 08:22 PM

The High Court ordered the destruction of fake diabetes testing strips in the market under the name of Pharma Solutions within seven days.

At the same time, the Directorate General of Drug Administration has been asked to implement this directive.

The High Court bench comprising Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice SM Masud Hossain Dolon gave the order after hearing the writ in this regard.

Earlier a report on this matter was published in a national daily. A writ was filed in the High Court by attaching that report.

According to the report, many people prefer to test their blood sugar levels at home to avoid the hassle of going outside. They use a testing strip for this purpose. However, a domestic company named Pharma Solutions has been found illegally importing these strips under the guise of a reputable foreign brand. The wrappers for these strips are printed in the capital, raising concerns about whether the strips themselves are also being produced locally. Evidence of the fraud has been found against a domestic company named Pharma Solutions.

A glucometer is the device used for measuring blood sugar levels. It allows individuals to check their diabetes levels at home. The process involves pricking the fingertip with a fine needle called a lancet, applying a drop of blood onto a testing strip, and inserting the strip into the glucometer to get the blood sugar reading.
