Md Jamal Uddin Sarkar, the former chairman of Tetuljhora Union Parishad in Hemayetpur, Savar, the sole accused granted bail in this case, appeared in court to hear the verdict Tuesday morning.

He received a seven-year prison sentence under two separate sections. Upon hearing the sentencing, he fled the courtroom unnoticed.

A Dhaka court has sentenced Hallmark Managing Director Tanvir Mahmud and his wife Jasmine Islam, the company's chairman, to life imprisonment in one of the 11 cases related to Sonali Bank's loan corruption amounting to approximately Tk4,000 crore.

Judge Md Abul Kashem of Dhaka's Special Judge Court 1 announced the verdict on Tuesday.

Additionally, seven other Sonali Bank officials received 17 years imprisonment in two separate sections.

Harun Or Rashid, the defence attorney, said: "Jamal Uddin was present in court when the verdict was announced. However, after the announcement, I noticed his absence."

Rajiv Ghosh, the bench assistant, mentioned that the accused was not found after the verdict.

Meanwhile, the court revoked Jamal Uddin's bail, issued an arrest warrant, and issued a sentence warrant.
