BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas, currently in custody, has been officially arrested in nine more cases filed with Paltan and Ramna model police stations.
The courts of Dhaka metropolitan magistrates Rajesh Chowdhury and Md Sultan Sohag passed the order after holding hearings on Thursday afternoon.
Bail hearings will be held in the nine cases later in the day.
Abbas’s legal counsel Mohiuddin Chowdhury said they hoped the court would grant him bail in all the cases.
On January 24, Mirza Abbas's lawyers applied for his official arrest in the cases and bail hearings.
Later, Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim on Wednesday fixed the hearing date.
Detectives arrested Mirza Abbas on the night of October 31 in Shahidbagh, Dhaka, in a case filed over sabotage. He has been in jail ever since.
