A Dhaka court on Wednesday issued an arrest warrant against Abul Kalam Azad, owner of Azad Products, for failing to pay the outstanding holding tax of over Tk43 lakh of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
DSCC Special Metropolitan Magistrate Court’s Magistrate Alaul Akbar passed the order, and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Public Relations Officer Abu Naser confirmed the matter.
According to the case statement, Azad Products did not pay over Tk4,39,35,251 from the second installment of FY2010-11 to the fourth installment of FY2019-20.
The Special Metropolitan Magistrate's Court has issued an arrest warrant against Azad Products owner Abul Kalam Azad for failing to appear before the court without taking any action to pay the outstanding tax despite repeated requests and summons.
The court also fixed August 30 as the next date for the next hearing.
The court passed the order under Section 75 of The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.
