A Dhaka court on Monday placed five more accused on two-day remand in case filed over attack on independent candidate Md Ashraful Hossain Alom, popularly known as Hero Alom, during Dhaka-17 by-polls on July 17.
The remanded accused are- Sajal, Prince, Saheb Ali, Shoyeb and Bayezid.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahedi Hasan placed the order as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to place him on 10-day remand.
Hero Alom's personal assistant Sujan Rahman Shuvo filed the case with Banani police station on July 18 accusing some 15-20 unknown people for the attack.
Hero Alom was subjected to physical assault in Dhaka's Banani area shortly before the end of voting on July 17.
He later alleged that ruling party men attacked him at Banani Bidyaniketan School and College polling centre in the afternoon “with the intention of murder.”
