Disinformation against Taposh: Court sets new date for probe report submission

The DSA case was filed last year

Update : 06 Jun 2023, 12:27 PM

A Dhaka court on Tuesday set July 24 for submitting the probe report into a DSA case that was filed for spreading misinformation about Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh regarding clashes in Dhaka's New Market area in 2022.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor set the new date as the investigating offer of the case failed to submit the probe report on Tuesday.

Monirul Islam, personal assistant to Mayor Taposh, filed the case with Shahbagh police under the Digital Security Act (DSA) on April 28 last year.

A published video titled “Bangladesh Times” was shared from a Facebook ID of Rakibur Rahman Fahim, a former assistant secretary of Dhaka city (south) unit Chhatra League.

He also shared another video published on a Facebook page named “iNewsBD” from another Facebook ID named Tajuddin Ahmed Russell.

Fahim was later arrested and put on a three-day remand on January 3 this year.
