The High Court on Sunday allowed online marketplace Evaly to withdraw Tk2.35 crore deposited at different banks to run its day-to-day operations.
The fund deposited at Southeast Bank and City Bank will be used for paying salaries of staff, including its board of directors formed by the court.
Justice Muhamad Khurshid Alam Sarkar’s bench passed the order on Sunday after a hearing on a petition by Evaly's board of directors.
The court also asked the Bangladesh Bank (BB) and National Board of Revenue (NBR) to provide details of the company’s wealth to the court.
At the same time, the HC ordered the inspector general of police to deploy law enforcers at the company’s office to maintain law and order there.
As per the court’s decision, Evaly management now will be also able to sell or rent its 22 vehicles.
The HC on October 18, 2021 formed a five-member board led by Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, a former judge of the Appellate Division, to run Evaly in absence of its jailed directors.
