The headmaster of Daul Barbakpur High School in Naogaon’s Mohadevpur was sent to jail on Sunday in a case filed by its assistant teacher Amodini Pal for falsely implicating her in the Hijab controversy.
Dharani Kanta Barman, the prime accused in the case, appeared before the court of the Third Senior Judicial Cognisance Court and sought bail. But the court rejected the order and sent him to jail.

Police on April 15 arrested two other listed accused – local journalists QM Sayeed Tito5 60, and Kazi Samshuzzoha Milon, 38 – for spreading rumours that she had beaten up some female students for not “wearing hijab” on April 6, defamation and hurting religious harmony.
The rumour spread on social media led to a mob vandalising the school property on April 7.

Amodini Pal filed the case against five named and 20-25 unnamed others, including the headmaster of the school.
On April 10, the headteacher also filed a GD over the vandalism, accusing 140-150 unknown persons.
Last week, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Habibur Rahman issued a show-cause notice to Amodini Pal over the incident of beating up students.

However, the investigation committee formed by the district administration did not find anything that the students were beaten for wearing “hijab”.
The report said: “Two teachers beat up some students of the school for not wearing school uniforms. Among them, there were several male students and a Hindu female student.”
