A Comilla court has sentenced three teenagers to life imprisonment on charges of abducting and killing their friend in 2017.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Selina Akter passed the verdict on Tuesday, said plaintiffs' counsel Advocate Kamruzzaman Babul and Md Abdullah Al Noman.
Among the convicts, Zihad Hossain, 19, was present at the count, while Emdad Hossain, 18, and Khairul Islam, 18, are currently at large after getting bail from the High Court.
Jahid’s father Akhtaruzzaman said he was not satisfied with the verdict. “They have brutally murdered my son. They should have gotten the death penalty.”
According to the case statement, Jihad, Emdad and Khairul abducted the victim Md Jahid, 19, on November 4, 2017.
On November 5, Jahid’s family filed a general diary with Homna police station.
Later on November 6, Zihad, Emdad and Khairul called Jahid’s uncle Masud Rana, and demanded Tk50 lakh as ransom.
He later reported the matter to the police. Based on the locations from the phone calls, police conducted raids in different places and arrested the three.
They confessed to killing Jahid and dumping his body in his school's septic tank. The body was found there.
