The High Court has rejected bail to South Korean national Youngsik Lee, an associate of online casino kingpin Salim Prodhan, in a money laundering case.
The bench of Justice JBM Hassan passed "no order" on the bail petition filed by Lee during a virtual hearing on Tuesday.
Advocate Sharif Ahmed represented Lee during the hearing and Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), while Deputy Attorney General Bashir Ahmed represented the state.
According to Khurshid, Lee was arrested on January 22 in connection with the money laundering case in which Salim is the prime accused.
On September 28 last year, Salim was arrested from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka while he was trying to flee the country.
On October 2, ACC filed the money laundering case at Gulshan police station against Salim and his associates.
