The Supreme Court has decided to operate courts in a limited way during the public holidays.
The top court issued separate circulars in this regard on Thursday.
During the public holiday, Justice Md Nuruzzam will hear only very important matters in the Chamber Court of the Appellate Division, according to the circular.
Justice Obaidul Hasan of the High Court division will hear very important matters under his jurisdiction.
Both justices will provide directions on the procedures for operating their courts and maintain social distance, the circular said.
The district and session judge court, the chief judicial magistrate and the chief metropolitan magistrate will operate their courts on any two days of the week, said the circular.
It is also directed to maintain strict social distance and not to bring the accused from jail to the court. Moreover, only one lawyer can attend the hearing for a bail petition, and the judge can postpone the operations if it would be impossible to maintain strict social distance in the courtroom, according to the circular.
The respective judges will direct necessary measures to maintain social distance after discussion with respective lawyers’ association.
The existing bail orders have also been extended for two more weeks, from the day when the courts will start to operate at their full capacity, and no hearing will take place for the cases during the holidays, the circular added.
All courts across the country will remain on leave till May 5.
