A Kishreganj court has sentenced four men to death for the murder of a child in the Charkauna area of Pakundia, Kishoreganj, in 2014.
The verdict was announced by Kishoreganj Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Md Awlad Hossain Bhuiyan on Wednesday.
The convicts –Md Shohag Mia, 40, Dulal Mia, 40, Dalim Mia, 30, and Aminul Haque, 27 – are from the same upazila where the murder was committed.
The victim Shafiqul Hasan Tutul, 12, was a fourth grade student at Memorial Kindergarten in the district.
On August 12, 2014, Tutul was abducted from his school, with the kidnappers demanding Tk10 lakh in ransom from his parents for his safe return.
Tutul's father Kamal Uddin filed a case regarding the abduction with Kishoreganj police station on August 13.
However, the abduction case became a murder case when Tutul's body was found in a bush near the Charkauna bazar on August 14.
On December 11, the investigation officer submitted a charge sheet against four men, including Dulal Mia, who was a neighbour to the victim's family.
