The government has appointed Advocate Azizur Rahman Dulu as Special Public Prosecutor to conduct the eight-year-old schoolgirl killing case on behalf of the state before the Dhaka Metropolitan Children Violence Suppression Tribunal, a recently constituted tribunal dealing exclusively with cases of violence against children.
A gazette notification from the Solicitor Wing of the Law and Justice Division said the appointment was made to conduct Case No 35 of Pallabi Police Station, pending before the Dhaka Metropolitan Children Violence Suppression Tribunal, on behalf of the state.
The appointment came shortly after Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s announcement that the maximum punishment for the child’s killer will be ensured within the next one month.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman, earlier in the day also said that the government is committed to the speedy trial of the murder case.
“This case will be completed within the shortest possible time,” he said while talking to newsmen at a workshop in the capital on Saturday morning.
