According to the case statement, criminals opened fire on money exchange trader Israel Hossain and his son Sharif Hossain Saimon and looted Tk38 lakh from them in the city’s Khilgaon area on September 4, 2014, leaving the latter dead and the former injured.

Saimon’s uncle Mujibur Rahman filed a case with Khilgaon Police Station against 3-4 unidentified muggers the following day.

Israel Hossain, who was the owner of Universal Money Exchange at Motijheel, died on September 1, 2016 while undergoing treatment for the injuries he suffered in the shooting.

Three firearms – one of them illegal – along with bullets, and Yaba pills were seized from him.
