Hundreds of Samrat's supporters have demonstrated blocking the main gate of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court at Old Dhaka demanding release of expelled Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat.
The protests began after Samrat was brought to the court premises for his remand hearing on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the demonstrators covered the court walls with posters demanding Samrat’s release and continued to chant slogans in the presence of law enforcement.
"There is request of total 20 days remand against Samrat over the two filed cases,” Assistant Public Prosecutor of CMM court Azad Rahman told Dhaka Tribune.
"The hearing began at 12:45pm."
