2 remanded in terror case

The duo had gone missing in 2016

A Dhaka court has placed two people on a one-day remand each, in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sayeed passed the order during a remand please hearing on Sunday.

Detective Branch (DB) of Police Inspector Mohammad Rabiul Islam, also the investigation officer of the case, had produced them before the court with a 10-day remand plea on May 17.

Yasin Mohammed Abdus Samad and Tehzeeb Karim, who went missing in 2016, were shown as arrested in a case filed over their alleged involvement with militancy.

Yasin is a British national of Bangladeshi origin, while Tehzeeb is the brother of Rajib Karim, who was convicted in 2011 for plotting to blow up a plane when working as a computer specialist with British Airways. 

According to sources, Yasin and Tehzeeb established Jama'atul Muslemin, an al-Qaeda-based militant organization in Bangladesh.
