2 more Noakhali rape accused confess in court

Two main accused Md Sohel and Jashimuddin in the Noakhali gang-rape case confessed their involvement under Section 168, at the Senior Judicial Magistrate Nabanita Guha’s court on Wednesday, after which they were sent to jail.

So far, 10 people have been arrested on charges of the case. After seven of them were remanded for five days each, two of them gave confessional statements on the third day of the remand.

Earlier, two other accused in the case, Salahuddin and Abul confessed the rape on Monday at the same court.

DB OC Abul Khair said: “The accused have given their confessional statements under the Section 168 regarding their involvements in the rape of the woman.”

Meanwhile, Islami Andolan Bangladesh leaders led by its Political Adviser Ashraf Ali Akon visited the victim at the Noakhali General Hospital.

At the time they asked how her treatment going on and gave her financial support.

Ashraf said: “This is a crime against the whole humanity. This is a big shame for the country. We want proper justice for the victim.”

Legal aid to be provided to the gang-rape victim

Noakhali Legal Aid Committee and Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee (Forum for Secular Bangladesh and Trial of War Criminals of 1971) have assured to give full legal aid to the victim in the Noakhali rape case.

The announcement was given at the Noakhali Press Club on Wednesday.

Convenor of the Committee Adv Gobinda Chandra Das in a written statement said: “We will provide every legal solution to the victim so that the culprits cannot run away from the law.”

Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee District Convenor Kazi Mansurul Haque; Adv Shahid Ullah Babu, were present, among others, at the time.
