After serving at the Indian jail for 10 years in a murder case, the Bangladeshi citizen Badal Farazi was brought back to Bangladesh on July 6 under a bilateral treaty named 'Transfer of Sentenced Prisoners'.
Indian police were looking for one Badal Singh on charges of killing an old woman at Amar Colony in New Delhi on May 6, 2008 and when Badal Farazi was entering India on a tourist visa on July 13, 2008, he was arrested for the similarity of his name with the accused murderer (Badal Singh). He was then sentenced to life term imprisonment in the case.
Badal's life sentence was upheld by the Delhi High Court in May 2016, and his appeal against it was rejected by the Indian Supreme Court in December the same year.
Now, he has been kept in Keraniganj Central Jail.
