SC tells EC not to allocate ‘scales’ as electoral symbol

The Supreme Court has sent a letter to the Election Commission instructing it to not allocate the ‘scales’ symbol to any political party during an election period. “The 'scales' has been used in the SC monogram as a symbol of justice for long (so) allocation of it as an electoral symbol may create confusion,” the registrar said. On December 12, the decision was adopted in a full court meeting of the Appellate Division and the High Court division in presence of Chief Justice SK Sinha, said the HC Division Additional Registrar General Sabbir Foyez.
