The chief of Rapid Action Battalion has threatened to take revenge for the deaths of seven bus passengers in Chouddogram of Comilla early Tuesday through legal means.
“Those who kill people by throwing bombs will not be allowed in a society which is peace loving,” Benazir Ahmed told a meeting on law and order on Chouddogram Pilot School ground yesterday.
Labelling the perpetrators as devils, the RAB director general said: “They have no idea about the ability of a state. No one can escape when the state and the law enforcement agencies work together.”
Deputy Inspector General of Police (Chittagong range) Shafiqul Islam at the same event said police had the ability to claim two lives against one. He also asked people to be vigilant on the highways.
Senior officials of the police and the administration attended the meeting.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was named as an abettor in two cases filed yesterday in connection with the arson attack in Chouddogram that left at least 30 passengers of a bus injured.
Police also made 75 leaders and activists of the BNP and its key ally Jamaat-e-Islami accused in the cases.
Khaleda is facing four other cases filed in Dhaka and Comilla over the deaths and injuries in arson attacks during the 20-party alliance’s ongoing blockade and hartal programmes.
