Today is the first anniversary of death of Khaled Khan, popularly known as Juboraj. His marks are not only left on the stage but in the lives of the people whom he inspired by his powerful acting and impeccable voice-delivery.
He started his career in theatre as a member of Nagarik Natya Sampradaya.
The troupe’s chief Ataur Rahman said Khaled Khad joined the Nagorik Natya Sampradaya in 1978.
At the initial stage, his talent was latent. But letter in the few years his performances were appreciated by storm of applauds, he said.
“I would say, he has a rare style when it comes to performing arts. It was well evident in the Syed Haq’s play, Irsha,” he added.
Ataur Rahman said the popular play “Raktokorobi” had some 75 shows before Khaled fell ill.
Khaled was a good actor and director. He was a progressive minded artist who could lift a troupe in a fulfilment note, he added.
Mita Haque, wife of Khaled, said: “He was a responsible person. An obedient son to both of our parents. He was also a great father to our children and a supportive husband.”
He was a soft spoken person. He used to express his frustration for not being able to perform on the stage due to his illness, he said.
“I still recollect the moments that he loved, food done with great care in precision,” said Mita Haque, also a famous Tagore singer.
Actress and director Tropa Mazumder said: “Juboda [Khaled] and I were in different troupes, so we never had the chance to share the stage. But, I had the opportunities to work with him in delivering voices for commercials.”
“We gave our voices in numerous TVCs. Such a well articulated person, he always guided me in my pronunciation,” she said.
“It was really a great experience getting him as a colleague, as my friend and as a good tutor,” she added.
“After giving direction of a play, I called him and asked him how did he like it,”Tropa Mazumder said.
“He could analyse profoundly, which benefited me in my directorial journey,”
Khaled Khan appeared in more than 30 plays throughout his career as an actor.
His notable plays are “Dewan Gazi’r Kissa,” “Irsha,” “Ocholayotan,” “Nuroldiner Sarajibon,” “Darpan,” “Galileo” and “Roktokorobi” among others. He directed more than 10 theatre plays.
