Expelled Awami League leader Mobarak Hossain has been taken to the tribunal which is set to pronounce its verdict in the case filed against him for committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.
Mobarak was taken to the tribunal around 9:18am.
The three-member International Crimes Tribunal 1, led by Justice M Enayetur Rahim, will deliver the verdict.
Mobarak, 64, is facing charges on five counts that include murder, abduction, torture and crimes against humanity.
He was sent to Dhaka Central Jail from Kashimpur Jail 1 around 4pm on Sunday, Jailer Amzad Hossain said.
Member of Jamaat-e-Islami in 1971, Mobarak was a razakar commander in Brahmanbaria. After the independence he joined the Awami League and served as the organising secretary of Mugra union unit in Akhaura upazila of Brahmanbaria for 16 years until 2012. Later he was expelled from the Awami League.
