A 100-member Bangladeshi youth delegation comprising males and females from diverse institutions will go to India on Monday at New Delhi's invitation to know the country.
This will be the third group in as many successive years India is taking to let them see its history, culture as well as education.
Most of the members of the delegation are university students who would embark on their first foreign trip.
The Indian High Commission in Dhaka today organized an orientation programme for the delegation at Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre where Indian High Commissioner Pankaj Saran and Deputy High Commissioner Sandeep Chakravorty briefed them.
Celebrated singer Habib Wahid and model Mehjabin also spoke at the pre-departure briefing to encourage the youth group, aged between 22 and 35 years.
In the pre-departure briefing, Pankaj Saran termed the youth as the "ambassadors of Bangladesh" during the visit.
"When you go, you represent the 160 million people of Bangladesh, in one sense each of you represent huge population of Bangladesh," he said.
Terming the less interaction between Bangladesh and India as a "big tragedy", the high commissioner said: "I do hope you will find this experience of some value."
The envoy who always emphasizes knowing the neighbors said the culture that they would see was not "a distant culture".
The delegation, during their stay, will visit famous cultural and historical sites besides interacting with educational, business, IT and technological institutions in New Delhi, Agra, Mumbai and Kolkata.
The delegation is also expected to call on President Pranab Mukherjee.
The group will come back on October 20.
The Indian government hosts this programme as part of its efforts to make a bridge of understanding. Both countries have a large number of youths.
