Visiting Japanese Prime minister Shinzo Abe has emphasized on more Japanese investment in Bangladesh.
The Japanese prime minister made the call supporting businessmen from both countries for the mutual benefits in the first speech during his two-day visit in Bangladesh at a Bangladesh-Japan Business Forum event at Pan Pacific Sonargoan Hotel on Saturday afternoon.
Terming Bangladesh very important for investment by its location between South East Asia and India, Abe laid importance to ensure affable environment to draw more investment in the country.
The Japanese prime minister said: “We are going to help each other like sister and brother aiming to boost and develop together ensuring mutual benefits.”
While talking on much-talked-about "Abenomics", adopted to inflate the decade long deflated Japanese economy, he said: “I choose to visit Bangladesh as I am leading Japanese economic growth as per Abnomics and it is very important country for Japan.”
The Japanese prime minister also mentioned about six billion US dollar economic cooperation to Bangladesh over the next 4-5 years, including $1.2 billion that has been provided in May this year.
Abe also talked about the Bay of Bengal Industrial Growth Belt (BIG-B) initiative proposed in the May summit meeting with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
