The High Court on Wednesday has upheld the capital punishment that had handed down to seven accused in the case of murdering six members of a family in Narshingdi in 2007.
The judgement was delivered by a majority view.
The death row convicts are—Aktaruzzaman, Dudh Miah, Fazlul Haque, Zahangir, Shapan, Shafique and Shahid.
On January 19, a High Court bench passed split verdict on the case. While Justice Shahidul Islam acquitted the seven, Justice Abdur Rob upheld the death penalty.
For the dissenting orders, Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain sent the matter to Justice Bhabani Prasad Singha, who Wednesday upheld the death sentence.
On March 17, 2008, the lower court sentenced the seven to death for killing six members of a family at the Bhelanagar village of Narshingdi.
