Team ‘Potter’ from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of Dhaka University has been selected for competing the Global Business Challenges, wining the final round of the “Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) 2014.
The 2014 CIMA GBC is an international business management competition designed to showcase the very best in the next generation of business leaders. To reach the final, students analysed a real life CIMA business scenario and presented innovative solutions.
The winning team will now represent Bangladesh at the global final at Mumbai in India to be held in between August 4 and 7, this year.
The winning team members are Mastura Tasnim, Ahmed Istehad Shoumik, Tanzir Islam and Rakib Ibnay Hossain.
The four teams the Hufflepuffs, LOL and Potter of Institute of Business Administration (IBA) and Runners-Up from Bangladesh University of Professionals took part in the Bangladesh final held at a city hotel yesterday.
A total of 178 teams had registered from 36 different universities for the 2014 CIMA GBC in Bangladesh.
The jury board, which includes Rubaba Dowla Matin, Airtel Bangladesh’s chief service officer, Zara Mahbub, head of customer experience of BRAC Bank Limited, Kabir Yaqub, a director of Pubali Bank Limited and Syed Tanvir Husain, Grameenphone director for centre of expertise, declared the winner of the Bangladesh final.
After the great success of the last year’s competition, CIMA is very excited to hold the sixth GBC. This year India will host to the global final, which illustrates the competition’s growing international appeal, said Andrew Hardling, Managing Director of CIMA.
He also said the competition represents a real opportunity to showcase the business leaders of the future.
CIMA will send the wining ‘Team Potter’ to the global final, where they will compete with teams from 23 other countries.
The participating countries are Australia, Bangladesh, Mainland China, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Malaysia, Gulf Coast Countries, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines, Poland, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the UK, Vietnam and Zambia.
