In a bid to develop the sports sector of the country, an allocation of nearly Tk1005m has been proposed by Finance Minister AMA Muhith in the national budget for the fiscal year 2014-15.
“We will reserve special attention for our sportsmen so that they can upgrade their skills in order to make their mark in the international arena,” said Muhith in his budget speech in the parliament yesterday.
“Distribution of sporting materials in different districts together with establishment of stadiums will continue for the promotion of sports. We will put our all-out endeavours to maintain a congenial atmosphere in sports management,” said the Finance Minister whilst placing the national budget.
“The task of identifying playing grounds at the upazila level will be taken up. However, construction of stadiums involving high costs will be discouraged. I propose an allocation of TK500m for this purpose,” he added.
