Looks like Disney is giving all the fairy tales a new life.
On a report published in the Variety, it is said that the “mouse house” has tapped Bill Condon, most known for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” films, to direct a live action movie of “Beauty & The Beast.”
Evan Spiliotopoulos is on board to write the script while Mandeville Films will produce, Variety reports. As the project is in early days, it remains unknown who will be cast as the memorable characters.
Disney’s animated version of the classic tale by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve, grossed over $375m worldwide, spawned a Broadway play and became one of the few animated flicks to receive a best picture Oscar nomination.
Meanwhile, Jon Favreau is due to direct a live-action version of “The Jungle Book” starring Idris Elba as tiger villain Shere Khan, while Kenneth Branagh is helming a reboot of “Cinderella” for next March.
